One of the best stores for gear, toys, supplies & more. They have the best leather wrist & ankle cuffs with D-rings that are comfortable to wear, sized for a truly custom fit. The photo shows what mine look like, except mine are black:
I've been looking for them & thanks to the movie I watched last night (AVN/Naked Ambition), I found their name & site again after having forgotten the name of it 10 years ago. Review of Naked Ambition: An R-Rated Look at an X-rated Industry
An R-Rated Look at an X-rated Industry
You rated this movie: 5
This is a fantastic look behind the scenes into an event very few get to attend or even knew existed, and the filming is excellent quality, loved the shots chosen for the final images, the realness of the portraits of people on every level of the biz. I used to attend the Atlantic City NJ version of this event, used to produce & sell adult films, adult web sites & worked behind the scenes as well. From someone who's been there, this is the best peek at the reality of these shows you will get without being there (& without the X-rated look into the late night bedroom parties). This did NOT focus on the book or the author, nor was it or he in ANY way creepy, the few who said that already had a problem with sex & their sexuality to begin with, probably just clicked play to leave a bad review without watching the actual film (or were jealous wo/men)! Stunning high quality, great editing, moves quickly & covers a lot of territory. Highly recommend this!

Review of National Geographic's Taboos: Witchcraft S1E2
Review of National Geographic's Taboos:
Witchcraft S1E2
5 of 5 stars
Episode 2 of Season 1 focuses on Witchcraft, in S. Africa, Zimbabwe, Mexico, the UK & several covens as well as individual witches, witch-doctors or witch-cleaners, and "bad" vs. "good", are thoroughly dealt with, just the facts & no judgments cast.
Magick is energy that does not have any intention for good or evil, the actual results depend more on the intent of the practitioner, than on the energy itself. Wicca as well as Witchcraft, both ancient and modern, are highlighted from all perspectives, religious and pagan. Some of the history is given but not much, other than the Salem with trials though these were not given more than two minutes.
One man who is a solitary & hereditary witch admits to practicing "black" magic to harm when he was younger, but has changed his focus to "white" witchcraft now, and performs a protection spell using his blood to seal it. Later he's shown as part of a Beltane ritual where he represents Winter or Darkness in a nature ritual to welcome summer.
Brujas or Mexican witchcraft is covered quite a bit, with anthropologists having studied the markets there for many years, and one who didn't believe in true witchcraft until he disturbed countless black magic spells in an attempt with others to cleanse an area at the request of the towns folk. Upon releasing--or opening the containers the spells resided in--all of them fell ill and had to conduct cleansing rituals, for which he gained a new respect for the power he had previously underestimated.
Also shown was a man who combined catholic and pagan beliefs to remove hexes from those who believed they had been cursed or caused harm, and in this the psychological affect on the physical body was more than hinted at directly as the cause, and the cure nothing more than a placebo for the mind of the afflicted. These cleansings were demonstrated but of course we can not SEE the affect but only be told about it.
The witchdoctor/cleanser in S. Africa, would travel from village to village, testing for witchcraft in each villager, until several would confess, and then he'd cleanse them in such a way as to restore the village harmony & trust once again. Pointed out was the fact that once accused of witchcraft the villager had no other way to prove themselves innocent, since without the cleansing they would be banished & untrusted, disbelieved; so in fact confession was their only way to be restored into the village with a positive outcome. In one scene, a man had severed human fingers in a small baby food like jar, to which he gave to the witchcleanser, with his confession of jealousy & lust, and was cleansed, forgiven & welcomed back into the village with smiles, laughter & great relief.
However, in these villages, ANY negative problem was blamed on witches, such as a bad crop, or a string of bad luck, then the witchcleanser would be summoned to come root out the one causing the problems, to cleanse their village & restore it to only good results; to which we know is impossible since nowhere in life is there ALL good or all bad, so these superstitions have also caused over 5 families to be banished from a village, losing their land & property as well as family & standing within that village, all on the word of a traveling stranger and his supposed tools to root out the "witches" among them, such as balancing a stick on a person's index finger. If the stick fell, that person was a witch, if it didn't fall, they were innocent. This practice is still active NOW, despite all we know of such causes and "tricks" which did not work during the inquisition nor do they work now. In olden times, a person who sank in water was an innocent (yet a dead one) while the one who did NOT sink was a witch, so a drive to survive was rewarded with death and a death was rewarded with innocence a bit too late to matter.
I felt this episode tried to cover too much in a short time, glossing over historical bits that were needed for background, as well as the modern explanations for the circumstances in Salem (rye bread with LSD on it in a mold, for example, was NOT even mentioned) and no real scientific evidence--which I do know does exist--was provided in this episode. However, I would still recommend it to viewers with an interest in a general, well-rounded but brief delve into this topic, and for the nonjudgmental perspective of this series, so far. These were originally aired on cable TV, so try to find them in reruns there, or renting the series on DVD, or as I'm doing, watch them on Netflix streaming to TV or PC. 5 of 5 stars.

Review of Taboo (Culture Shocks) S1E1
Review of Taboo National Geographic Documentary
(Culture Shocks) S1E1
There are two seasons, with 13 episodes & each episode is 47 minutes long; this is for S1E1--Tattoos
Rated 5 of 5 stars.
Anthropologists seek out special tattoos symbolizing head hunters or killers who have removed the head, but such people are hard to find so many years after the last known head hunting tribe was active (1940-60 or so). One old man is finally found but does not bear the tell tale symbols due to being too young at the time of the killing to safely receive the markings (in their cultural beliefs, to have tattooed him before his manhood ritual would be to cause illness on him and the tattooist).
The name, tattoo, comes from the sound of the sticks being tapped together with one long stick having a sharp needle on it's end, and another stick held perpendicular to it & tapped onto the top of the one with a needle, to make the designs with black ink. Pain is seen as a strengthening of the body & soul, as a ritual for children & boys into adulthood or other milestones of life. Traditional tattoo artists that practice the tribal art, are hard to find, it is a dying culture with those coming from the tribes being embarrassed to be identified as coming from the "woods", longhouses & traditional tribal villages, for they are seen as poor & less educated.
In this episode the tribal uses of scarification are also featured prominently, and I must admit to having to look away as razor sharp cuts by the hundreds are made into both a young boy for his transition to manhood, and to a baby as his mother holds him down, so that the baby will be accepted into their village & not become outcast. They are not allowed to express or show the pain, for that would mean they are not worthy of receiving the marks, or of transitioning into the next step of their life. Because these people have dark skin, tattoos do not show on them, so their culture has substituted scarification instead. All of the village members MUST be scarified, or outcast, never belonging or being accepted. This show goes into great detail on these beliefs, without judging those who practice them, and examines both the morals & ethics of a non-tribal society's view as well as their view of us.
Lastly they cover a tattoo convention in Finland, where for once the tattooed feel they belong, are not judged by society, are not in the minority. Many of those featured speak of being addicted to the tattoo process, or to the pain and the endorphin rushes they receive from facing the pain. On the extreme side are those who provide entertainment at the convention by being suspended from hooks placed in strategic areas of their skin, such as behind the knees, the shoulder blades & lower back, then being hung & swung in circles, to which they receive audience reactions & energy in addition to the endorphin highs their actions bring. [Very similar to the coverage shown in both Modify & Flesh & Blood documentaries on suspension].
All perspectives are examined in turn, questions answered, curiosities satisfied, all without judgement of the participants--which I find very refreshing in this documentary series. One part hard to forget is the man who has tattooed 80% of his body--in his own estimation--with only his hands & face left unmarked. He stated he can NOT stop, he must continue tattooing the rest. My question, which was NOT answered is this, what happens when that 20% is done, what will he do after that, when there is no skin left to ink? Has he even considered that question himself?
Briefly, piercing was also covered but was not in any way the focus of any part of this episode, probably because in later shows it will be covered in much detail. The audio & video were superb & I'd highly recommend this series to anyone interested in various cultural taboos, and within the 2 seasons of episodes, EVERY taboo IS brought into the lime light in the same ways as this episode was, without judgement, and fairly full coverage of all sides or perspectives. I give this a 5 of 5 stars.

Review of DVD: Sound Tribe Sector 9: Live as Time Changes
Sound Tribe Sector 9: Live as Time Changes
You rated this movie: 1 of 5
While I applaud the full length DVD for a change, the content was extremely lame in this case. The so-called light show is an LED board of triangles so it's not at all real graphics--more like a peg board. 2 guitar players, 2 drummers, 1 keyboard piano man, & the 2 guitar players used laptops for added content when not playing guitar. The music was more jazz electronic than rock, and every song sounded just like the last one, to the point where I skipped several songs. The only song I liked was Instantly, I played that twice before returning DVD, so I didn't like it THAT much nor did I even want to record it, never mind buy it. If this were free it would still be a waste of time. I love new music, electronic & techno, progressive, love guitar & drums, but this was just too bland, the promised psychedelic visuals were never delivered, & it would have been nice to focus cameras on the actual players while they were soloing! Fans will like it, non-fans, don't bother.

Review of Kevin Hart: I'm a Grown Little Man, stand up show
Kevin Hart: I'm a Grown Little Man
You rated this movie: 5 of 5 stars
Hands down the funniest comic I've ever seen & stand up is a specialty of mine, especially BET style, so Kevin performed his butt off to make the top of that list of greats--Eddie Murphy funny, Chapelle funny, just one belly laugh after another & often without time to catch a breath in between. I bet the neighbors could hear me & wondered--what can be THAT funny? Kevin Hart can. At the end of the show he brings out his kids, he's such a humane guy despite his jokes about being a runner (from fights & altercations). His facial expressions and vocal mimics are excellent, amazing talent for impressions (not the celebrity kind--more like Robin Williams kind), at one point you'd swear he was white, another he was a woman, another an aristocrat, then a thug. His smile is beautiful, his jokes were not at all raunchy (tho I like that too) or full of f-bombs, though it is an adult show, not Bill Cosby clean, yet not filthy in any way. HIGHLY recommed BUYING this --just as funny my 2nd watch.

Review of Paul Rodriguez: Comedy Rehab
Paul Rodriguez: Comedy Rehab

The language, crass humor, none of that bothers me. The bilingual show and the total lack of funny DID bug me. In fact the only SLIGHTLY funny part was with Paul himself but he struggling & strutting like a peacock, none of which was at all humorous. Not a single laugh and after 60 minutes I shut it off & went to watch a MUCH funnier Kevin Hart Grown Little Man show instead, so glad I didn't waste the FULL 85 minutes on this one. I would NOT recommend this even if it were free & there was nothing else on--read a book, visit a friend, take a nap, any activity would be better spent than watching this. Too bad because Latino comedy is usually so much better than this even came close to being.

Review of Bill Engvall: Aged and Confused stand-up comedy special
Bill Engvall: Aged and Confused
You rated this movie: 5
Hilarious! Took some warming up, but that's generally how all stand-up's start, to get a feel for the audience & customize their material for them. I loved this show as much or more than any of his others, and all new material as well, which is always a plus! Nothing I hate worse than repeat material. Nothing offensive, kids could see this, but they might not GET some of the humor, no swears or detailed sex stuff. Some crude humor about farting but that was ROTFLMFAO funny! The kids will love that, & the 10 yr old boy on the bus fight, lol. Everyone of all ages can relate to most of these anecdotes, though more focused on aging as the title promises, anyone expecting different didn't read the title or description! Not sure why unrated, this is easily G-rated. I've loved Engvall (and White most of the BCCT group--although Jeff got me started on it) in all he does, love comedy that lets us laugh at our own foibles.

Review of movie The Speed of Thought
The Speed of Thought
You rated this movie: 5
This was an incredible movie, as good as Inception in its own way, better story & acting as well as tempo in fact, though not as built-up as some of the Inception cgi graphics were, this is more realistic in many ways. As for being predictable? That's a bald lie, as is boring, poorly written & all the other falsified reviews; no idea what their motives are. I'd definitely recommend renting or seeing on cable TV, highly recommend this to anyone who likes thrillers, some sci-fi, romance, David & Goliath situations, and satisfying endings where they all get what they deserve. The editing, cinematography, audio, and production are all nearly top notch, all the actors were excellent--none seemed forced, faked, nor unnatural. Some of the best acting I've seen from these actors in fact. Totally surprising twists & turns keep you guessing until the end. Wish I could give this 10 stars. gmj2012

Review of Hide and Seek movie
Hide and Seek
You rated this movie: 3
Daryl Hannah did her best acting in this, as did Tilly & Greenwood, but Gallo's acting was awful most of the time. There were serious credibility issues, such as why didn't Anne take Helen's truck at the tractor store, or when she left the farm house originally, why didn't she lock them in the basement or lock herself into that van? There would be no movie if any of these questions had logical answers. The crazy ending is NOT credible or shown, we're shown one thing (Tilly shooting Anne), then something else entirely (Tilly in body bag, how, when & why?) turns out to be the end--no explanation at all? Some of Tilly's acting was OVER acted, the hospital scene definitely not credible on any level, nor were the police scenes. Yet the movie was still compelling, though I did check the time hoping it would end sooner. The movie's ending is in the last 2-3 minutes, as if someone said "Oops we have 2 minutes, better make up an ending". I doubt I'd recommend this even free on cable.

Review of documentary Fetishes
Fetishes
You rated this movie: 3
This would have been a 5-star review except the director/camera-man in one, did the worst thing an interviewer could do--continually interrupt those attempting to answer his questions, & I wanted to hear the answers that were lost! Other than that & his total bias & ignorance, despite having done this documentary he learned nothing, and through his eyes we may learn shame or embarrassment instead of respect, tolerance & understanding, which is generally why people watch documentaries! Shame on YOU Nick. As for the variety of fetishes covered and the footage, it was what was promised--nothing overtly sexual, mostly psychological and physical, although clients are expected to sexually relieve themselves at the end of a session--so say the Mistresses. This never promised an indepth look into the lifestyle, instead it's a look into one brothel that sells & specializes in unique experiences tailor made for each client.

How can previous reviews say there's no evidence when this entire film is about them collecting the forensic evidence to prove not only their theories (and ALL science is theories, only proven until unproved with technology), but that their theories were UNDERestimating the rate of speed & transformation from ice to rising sea levels, from temps to direct evidence of its effects??? What more do we need to see? Billions of people and whole states wiped out before our eyes, well by then it's too late. Even now may be too late, considering our technology can't even keep up with the speed of glacial decay, never mind stopping the train when we haven't designed a brake system yet! Already this year's weather has been more extreme than ever in history because of climate change & we're supposedly 50-100 years away from those consequences, right? ha! Obviously NOT. If we as a species are too dumb to police ourselves NOW, then we deserve extinction--may a smarter species than us survive.

Zero stars, shut off at 40 minutes. Anti-white, anti-black, anti-intelligent! Says whites will become their slaves to be whipped next, that all white people are albino babies of blacks, that the 1960's civil rights movement was wrong & to exercise freedom of speech by using your middle finger on the job, or where ever. Hmmm, the only thing funny here is that he gets paid to make more people ignorant! Too many in the audience were lapping up this misinformation like mother's milk, just more ignorance. Says there are more blacks in colleges than in prison--wake up Eddie! Made light of crashing an expensive car doing all he was told NOT to do, that he lived is a shame. He sees having 8 kids--he wants 12+--as his duty to replace all the blacks in prisons, after saying there were more in colleges than prison, contradicts his own "facts". Someone, save him from himself. Please! Forced to give one star, Grrr.

Review of The Flaming Lips: The Fearless Freaks
The Flaming Lips: The Fearless Freaks
Rate 5 stars
Excellent documentary in quality audio, visual & content as well as organization & focus. The music was there, but the band members & family connections, history & characterizations, were the focus. I was not a fan before seeing this, thought their music too mellow, now perhaps I'll look up some of their older more experimental material, have a deeper understanding of the group & the music they made, as well as their intent behind it. I'm glad to know Steve got clean of heroin & hope he's still clean now. This film documents the history of just about every band member past or present. I didn't realize they were friends & collaborated with the White Stripes (one of my favs, Jack White in anything), that their influence came from the Butthole Surfers or that they considered themselves punk rockers. I knew their song videos tell incredible stories, wonder if the Mars Santa movie was ever completed? Highly recommend this to anyone interested in music or the band, fan or not, you'll learn something new & enjoy the journey.

Hal Sparks: Charmageddon

One of the funniest comedians I've ever seen. It takes a lot to surprise laughter out of me & he kept doing that from beginning to end. Never a dull moment. He's very insightful, intelligent, a deep thinker--those are always the best comedians, Carlin was great because he could point out the ridiculousness of everyday things or beliefs & make us laugh at ourselves, and Sparks is definitely of the same caliber. Obviously this is adult humor, anyone with cursing or adult comedy issues should stick to the church-approved comedians, rather than watch just to complain later as if you didn't know it would happen; though Sparks did not use cursing casually, he was judicious like a spice in a meal, to add flavor & depth. The laughs come without any warning, you expect funny but the ones that grab you & MAKE you laugh are unexpected, those are the best kind. Definitely worth renting, buying, watching & can't wait to see more by him.

Starz Inside: Comics On Screen

Only 5 people have seen this here? Wow! This is an amazing 56 minutes, with some of the best comedians, as well as their comedy, and behind the scenes peeks you can't get anywhere. I'm surprised more people haven't seen this. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who loves comedy, likes to laugh, wants to know more about comedians or stand up comedy, transitions from funny to film, the work it takes to get in front of people & STAY in front of people, how much comedians get back from their audiences, not a boring second in this one. The focus & chronology were perfectly organized, high quality audio & picture, wide range of comedians of nearly every race & genre of comedy, very well put together without wasting a single minute, edited better than most of the documentaries I've seen. You won't regret spending this 56 minutes.

Review of Latin Divas of Comedy
Latin Divas of Comedy
You rated this movie: 4 Stars
4 stars because they were very funny, minus a star because both Reymundo as a MAN hosting a Diva's and a bad host--no funny, just here they are. And second because I didn't laugh out loud more than once. I'm hard to surprise into laughs though, so 4 stars instead of the 3 it may have deserved. Martinez did jokes about her weight, the lesbian did jokes about--what else--being gay, Sara was very funny despite the cigs vs. milk thing (that reviewer has no sense of humor), and Monique did an advice show instead of comedy. The show opened with a sexy latin male singer and a sexy male violin player, ended with same. Reymundo always opens his shows with music, perhaps because he never has any new material, unfortunately. Almost didn't watch because of him, but glad I did because the women were better than he's ever been on his own. Martinez was best because she really didn't care what anyone thought of her. Recommend renting, not buying.

Review of movie Touch
Touch
You rated this movie: 4
4 Stars for the effort, script & cast. Somehow despite everything going for it, this movie had no substance, no meat on its bones, and the acting was extremely flat. Wide open eyes close-up, NO expression in them at all. Walken was the best of the cast, as was Arnold, but the rest were emotionless robots--and I usually live Fonda & especially Ulrich, so very disappointing. The dialogue was forced & not natural, there was zero chemistry between any of the characters, although in some scenes Ulrich did better than Fonda--who seemed vacant throuhgout. Side of breasts, nipples & naked side view on Fonda, totally naked in bed with Skeet with a sheet between them, and Skeet naked from behind is all that was shown, plus some kissing close-ups that were more credible than the rest. Not sure why R-rated since this was at most PG, language not an issue, nor drugs, sex or other controversial content. Maybe if the movie were free, on a rainy afternoon, on cable, but don't pay to see this.

Review of LIVE concert Korn: Live on the Other Side
Korn: Live on the Other Side
You rated this movie: 5
1st, there were 2 guitar players--they even played together f2f at ctr mic, so was the reviewer blind? Each even did brief solos with cameras on them. I've never seen a bass played that way tho, slapping the guitar rather than strumming. No lip sync anywhere either, guitar & lead singer sang their throats & hearts out! Looking at stage, bass was on left, lead guitar was on right, lead singer in center & drums behind him. I've liked Korn but not been an avid fan, though after this I'm definitely more into them than I ever was before. This show was an awesome physical performance, plus the mosh pit & fans filmed throughout in quick breakaways. However, no fan in planes stuff--no special features when streaming I guess. I wanted to see that! This was 120 minutes, not 130, so those 10 minutes are missing. Still a 5+ star show, loved Come Undone & Want to Laugh Again.
Review of Katt Williams: The Pimp Chronicles: Pt. 1 on Netflix
Katt Williams: The Pimp Chronicles: Pt. 1

This was not 60 minutes, but 40 of 45. He quit 4 minutes early & they showed Snoop Dogg bloopers & backstage scenes. A solid 40 minutes that was ROTFLMFAO funny! I can take anything a comedian dishes out, so his language wasn't a problem & nothing was that offensive--it's a comedy show, not a valedictorian speech! He goes after everyone equally--well, black, hispanic & whites, not the other races--goes after both genders, points out the ridiculousness of everyday life, beliefs, actions & behaviors that we don't notice but are glad he does. In fact I often prefer black BET style comedy because it's the type of raw stuff I like, and mainstream or white comedy can be boring--few are ever as honest or funny (besides Stanhope, Carlin & Hicks), or ever let go with as much relish. Katt commanded that stage & gave a hilarious all out performance.
In Praise of the Fallen 9/11 Tribute CD Compilation
Sample all 16 tracks on the CD album, $5.99 to buy (well worth it for the music, but all proceeds go for 9/11 to the feelgood foundation). Industrial, metal & gothic or dark content that is incredibly good stuff, I'm on my 3rd listen this morning--whole LP repeat, lol. There's even a tribal fusion song which I loved, and 2 had very subtle sounds that reminded me of Pink Floyd. A couple have deep throbbing low frequency bass despite the hardcore rocking. There are at least 8 excellent songs, 5 that I can't choose between as a fav, so as you can guess, the $5.99 more than covers the cost if I bought them separately. Which ones are YOUR favorites?
Mine are tracks 3, 5, 7-9, 13 & 15 (seven totals FAVS, others close second). Give it a listen yourself :)

Review of Problem Child: Leslie Jones Stand-up Comedian
Problem Child: Leslie Jones
You rated this movie: 4
She's funny as hell, rude, crude & socially unacceptable, the way I like them. The 4 stars is because of the last 10 minutes when she badgered audience members & hit them on the head with her mic, seeming clueless how much that hurts the head. She said it was her fav part of the show too, guess she really does hate pretty women, lol. Really enjoyed her sex jokes, the single women aspects, and how a good man and good peter don't always--or often--come in same package, but the best bits were the climactic--literally--mimes all over the stage floor & on a stage hand's head. Also made fun of herself, her height & shoe size among other things. Definitely would see her again, maybe even this show again--worth buying perhaps. Obviously those who don't like the F-word, sex, climaxes and "dirty" talk, avoid this show--we don't need to hear your complaints & moral judgement's as if you didn't know what the show was like before watching. I love BET quality comedians.
Review of Strictly Sexual movie
Strictly Sexual
You rated this movie: 5
I loved everything about this movie--except the cabana as guest "house". Teens could watch this, PG even, since they hear the F-word all over anyway, and none of the sexual content is shown, though it is discussed quite a bit, most kids also already know more about it than they could learn from this. The acting, script, dialogue, characterizations, scenery & location, all were superb, surprisingly for no-name actors. I wish I'd watched this sooner, now knowing how fantastic it is. Worth buying & seeing again, definitely recommend this movie. Some of the visual quality in the streaming version was pretty bad, especially in the darker lit scenes (I have HD & it still looked like VHS quality then). I laughed, got pissed, felt sappy & even cried at the ending. A movie that moves one to so many emotional places is a rare find indeed. 100x better than No Strings Attached!

Below I have pasted in an excerpt of the 1st section titled: We Have Accepted Less privacy! Scary stuff....http://www.rd.com/family/how-we%E2%80%99ve-changed-911-ten-years-later/
We have accepted less privacy.
Perhaps the most visible intrusions on privacy are the full-body scanners now being rolled out at airports around the country, although about two thirds of Americans say they’re willing to put up with such personal impositions to prevent terrorism.
Other infringements upon this fundamental American privilege are less apparent. Shortly after 9/11, Congress passed the Patriot Act, which expanded federal officials’ powers to keep tabs on our personal information, from credit card use to cell phone calls to car travel. Today, 3,984 federal, state, and local organizations take part in domestic counterterrorism efforts; the National Security Agency alone has about 30,000 people eavesdropping on 1.7 billion intercepted e-mails and other communications every day. In June, the FBI gave significant new powers to its 14,000 agents to search databases, screen household trash, and use stakeout teams to investigate “persons of interest.”
The upside: greater law enforcement success. Five billion mobile phones are now in use around the world, and 95 percent of users keep their phone within a yard of themselves at all times. “That’s the same as saying the location of 95 percent of these people can be determined anytime,” says Fred Cate, director of the Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research at Indiana University. “Ten years ago, law enforcement would put a tail on someone; today, they call the cell phone company.”
Financial institutions are also huge repositories of easily traceable, and accessible, data: Emboldened by the expanded guidelines, the Treasury Department has subpoenaed records of millions of financial transactions. “We can match up money to find organized-crime financing much easier, and it works all the time,” Cate says.
But are we really safer? According to the Breakthrough Institute, a public-policy think tank, only two plots against the United States have been foiled because of the increased snooping allowed by the Patriot Act. Dozens of others, the report concluded, “were broken open due to the combination of well-deployed undercover agents, information from citizen or undercover informants, and tips from foreign intelligence agencies” — in other words, old-fashioned gumshoe work.

Review of Rise: Story of Rave Outlaw Disco Donnie
Rise: Story of Rave Outlaw Disco Donnie
You rated this movie: 1
The video was poor quality about 85% of the time, extremely pixelated especially when in dark or fast moving situations, which is almost the entire movie. The music is OK, not great because nothing was really featured but the same steady beat repeatedly, with a few spices thrown in here & there--that beat was IT & it hit hard, all I can say for it. The movie definitely does NOT tell anything about Donnie Disco, and is misleading in its title to say so, in fact one doesn't know what role he played in this event even after watching the movie (he's a party promoter? I thought he was supposed to be a DJ? Very confusing). I wish there had been more focus on the dancing & the actual experience of the rave, without all the blurry pixelated video or the so-called special effects, or the useless interviews. The previews & the summary or description for this movie is untrue to the point of being nearly bait & switch--maybe if you go into this with NO expectations at all, you may get some small satisfaction but even that is doubtful. I truly wanted to know & experience the rave culture, and after watching this, I still have no solid idea what it was about, nor did this make it seem attractive. Perhaps if they had followed fewer people, focusing more on a few key players instead of trying to cover too many, the movie may have succeeded, not to mention the Mardi Gras footage which didn't belong in this film, didn't add to it & in fact seemed more like padding to fill the time out. Don't waste your time on this unless you truly have nothing better to do, because even the music sucks, the video is awful quality, there's no organization or plot to this, not much to recommend it. Sad to say.
Review of Let Me In
Let Me In

The other reviewers assume we've seen the original, and they compare the two, without once actually reviewing for those who never saw the original. I'd not seen this before, so can only compare it to others of its class. The acting was incredibly good, as were the effects, 99% was credible--not going to ruin it by telling you which parts weren't. This is not a romanticized version of vampires such as Twilight and other recent fare--this is old school horror but does not focus on that as much as the relationships between the characters, not to say there wasn't plenty of gore, because there definitely was. I'd agree that children under 17 should not view this without a parent or guardian, or if they are easily frightened. (The motion picture industry seems to have no consistency in its guidelines for ratings). This movie wasn't as predictable as one would think, enough surprises to thrill without the cover-your-eyes, bite your nails suspense, though it has those moments, they are rare enough to make this enjoyable even for those who are easily frightened or dislike anxiety provoking suspense. Definitely worth seeing if one enjoys horror & drama. One feels for the characters, so they are sympathetic even as they may seem evil. I would watch it again and will recommend it to others.
Review of Flesh & Blood
Flesh & Blood
You rated this movie: 3
I'm not into body modification or suspension, but that does not mean I can't view this with respect for those adult's choices & lifestyle decisions. I'd heard this movie was better than Modify, so I watched this one first, because the other barely mentions Haworth (pronounced HAY-worth), who DID create this industry & in fact designed the tools by which others presently in the field he birthed, use. The gore (blood & lots of it) factor can be a bit much, seeing people in pain & bleeding isn't much fun, but once one gets past the 1st few sticks, and realizes these people choose & some even get off on that pain, it gets a bit easier to take--until the suspension part, that was hard for even me to watch; again after awhile it got easier, but never once did I think "Gee that looks like fun". Haworth gives much info on how dangerous this can be for just anyone off the street to do, and he has a medical instrument/inventor background, a somewhat pioneering but safely type attitude, explaining the legal, medical & even moral/ethical sides to the lifestyle, including a touching scene with his dad. I don't believe he was egotistical or arrogant so much as honest & frank about what lead him to & kept him part of the lifestyle. Some focus was put on people who had later changed their mind about their own modifications, so it was a well rounded close look at an industry few get a peek into. The quality of the video, sound and production was excellent despite this being a documentary. The relationship issues were valid in how modification & suspension affects ones relationships with peers, lovers, family & others. I wish this had been longer, covered more of the modification than the suspension, which filled nearly half this movie. If you are squeamish about blood, you will have a problem watching this, and there are close up genital scenes, which may not be suitable <18. I would watch it again and recommend it to others interested in this subject.

Modify
You rated this movie: 5
Having seen Flesh & Blood 1st, this movie is definitely more balanced & complete in content, coverage of the issues, all aspects of modification from plastic surgery to body building, hair color to skin color, corsets in clothing & in skin, sex change operations to suspension from hooks, permanent make-up to piercings. As well, legal, medical, ethical, societal, historical, religious & spiritual, discrimination & the effect in one's life, family, community & within oneself, no questions were left unanswered. No perspective was ignored. This is definitely the better of the two films, with a much wider range of interviews, input, personalities & examples. The hardest part to stomach were the plastic surgery operations so that by the time one sees even extreme modifications, nothing can compare to the surgical augmentation footage. Instead of one man's view, as in Flesh & Blood's focus on Haworth, here we get an enormous amount of perspectives; however there were none who were against modifications, though their protests were addressed thoroughly with Q&A's throughout the film. Excellent quality film & audio. Highly recommended.

Alex Reymundo: Red-Nexican

Ron White describes him well, a Mexican who looks Indian & talks like a Redneck. Show sprinkled with plenty of naughty & nice spanish, hilarious throughout, I laughed harder in the last 15 minutes than the 45 minutes before them. This is not advertised as family friendly, audience full of adults, no reason anyone should expect political correctedness in comedy, nor was his show full of F-bombs, like many comedians overuse for laughs. He even makes fun of the fact that there's no pretty way to say some things, his attempts are all the funnier. The audience present during taping loved him as much as I did watching, and he had a tough crowd to please in Missouri. I'd easily recommend this to anyone wanting a ton of laughs, worth every minute of the show.
