Review: Toxic Skies

Review: Toxic Skies
Acting was superb, especially by the medical staff & patients! Great production values for a low budget film, action & suspense throughout were engaging, kept the story racing to conclusion. The previous reviewers detailed all the many plot holes & inaccuracies that even a lap person knows better, so 4 of 5 stars for a bad script & lazy if not irresponsible misinformation! Other than those credibility issues (which the whole shebang depends on), I'd highly recommend this as a rental but not to buy the DVD. Very satisfying ending but for that last bit where a new corporation takes over the job of the "evil" one that went out of business as a result of their actions, a sequel could have been possible, or the point was that it didn't matter which corp. had the deal, it was going to run the same way & with military/govt. support, knowledge & monies. Perhaps the only reason the movie was released is because so many plot details were far-fetched, it wasn't a threat to the powers that be

YES I DO! Do you support the legalization of Marijuana?

YES I DO! Do you support the legalization of Marijuana?

The potential for so much good, medically & otherwise, not to mention that it is a non-lethal drug without a single harmful side effect or death attributable to the drug, yet the drug war kills millions, imprisons millions more & cost is billions to imprison innocent people, that's the REAL lethal danger. I also support hemp which as a substance has so many positive uses and job potential it seems ignorant to ban it because of unaccountable fear or prejudice & just plain idiocy since hemp is not an active form of marijuana!

When I did chemo in 2000, living in a state where it was legal by RX at the time (Maine), my doctor prescribed it saying it would replace NINE of my medications that were costing nearly $20,000 a month, and causing such harm to my body that it nearly killed me taking the pills those sworn not to cause harm (doctors) were forcing me to take! The marijuana relieved so many medical problems & symptoms it was like a miracle drug! Sleep & insomnia, uncontrollable muscle spasms & severe muscle pain with myofascial pain syndrome, nerve pain (slightly), appetite & nausea (#1 use for me then--it stopped the vomiting), stress relief, some pain relief, stomach ulcers (lessened by the relief of other issues), etc.

Ironically, as a teen & young adult I had never been able to smoke it without getting violently ill (vomiting) and acting strangely. Yet when I was so sick with the chemo, smoking marijuana did the opposite--it relieved vomiting & nausea, no more weird behaviors, so I got to thinking that as long as I didn't try to get high with it, it would work right for me when I needed it, and I was right. I was also afraid if I smoked it too often I would become tolerant & it wouldn't work as well, so I didn't use it except either as prescribed or LESS often than prescribed--usually as soon as I felt nauseous and before bed for sleep & muscle spasms that kept me awake & in pain.

With it being federally illegal now though, the cost of a federal defense is MINIMUM $15,000 just to file a case, so anyone obeying state law where it is legal, yet breaking federal law, can never afford to defend themselves in court. Our prisons are so full of drug offenders there is no room for the REAL criminals, such as the murderers, rapists & robbers, etc. We are all paying the price literally & figuratively in taxes for the prisons & added police, in lost rights & increase of police state with powers over our constitutional rights & loss of property, loss of loved ones whether by the freed murderers or the imprisonment of non-violent victimless crimes, not to mention the billions of dollars in deficits going for the drug war.

definition of insanity--doing the same thing over & over, but expecting different results. The drug war is insane, it hasn't been effective, instead like prohibition in the 20's, the drug war actual CREATES crime, criminals, deaths, and the illegal market for a natural substance that works better & safer than the supposed FDA approved medicines! I keep waiting for people to wake up! Please!

Review of The Brandon Teena Story

Video quality streaming is very pixelated, the musical sections unnecessary, so 4 of 5 stars, otherwise an excellent film, dramatic enough as a documentary, can be seen before or after BDC. No matter what Teena did, none of the actions against her were justified, yet these cold, heartless killers, parents, siblings & neighbors DO deserve whatever they get for trying to cover it up (killer's mom watches son mop up evidence in her home & does NOTHING about that!), blame the victim, deny & justify inhumane beliefs & actions. One of the most heart breaking & gritty docs I've ever seen, even knowing the story--saw BDC years ago--this was painful (yet impossible to stop) viewing. I've lived down south (FL), people are exactly like this, called me an N-lover because I had black friends! That Sheriff Mr. Laux further raped Teena during his interviews with her, verbally humiliating her & trying to get sexual thrills from harming her further. Unreal & he got elected County Commissioner after this! OMFG! Wake up people, please.

Review: Patrice O'Neal: Elephant in the Room

Review: Patrice O'Neal: Elephant in the Room
The screen kept going black every 2-3 minutes through the entire show, whether that was the commercial breaks edited out or what, it was damned annoying, when in middle of a joke especially! Otherwise, this is my fave type of BET stand up comedy; raw, raunchy & in your face funny! If you don't like swears, bodily functions, sex, race, gender or other sensitive subjects in comedy, avoid this. Believe me his punch lines are very obvious--anyone who needs them spelled out is dimwitted to the point that they wouldn't get it even with a punchline, sad to say. He definitely abuses his audience but then again, anyone sitting right up front has to know they're taking that chance. I purposely choose front seats for that reason, plus he was very aware of his audience & the reactions he was looking for. Highly recommend this for an hour 17 minutes of laugh out loud funny.

Review: Jake Johannsen: I Love You

Review: Jake Johannsen: I Love You

ROTFLMFAO funny! Belly laughs so often it's hard to get a breath in. Some of these reviews are bald lies--he doesn't stutter, not for old people in cardigan sweaters either, and his work was stolen by the others, look up the dates of those shows. From the franken-porno to "I want to bite you", hilarious! You don't have to be married, or have kids, or be over 35, or be white, to GET this or laugh, however his style is NOT the BET shocker kind. I like both styles, and still had no problem laughing nor giving this 5 stars. I can't wait to find some of his other work to see! To say you don't like him because he isn't so & so, is ridiculous, since each has their own style & routines & if they didn't, you'd be accusing them of copying or stealing the material, so get real. What I found lacking is that he didn't do any riffs on his heritage or name or culture. Loved his the answer to every question is, Touch It! I'm still LMFAO. Highly recommended. awolgina

REAL Industrial Music

REAL INDUSTRIAL MUSIC

Nov. 10, 2011

by Gina Jordan AKA awolgina

I used to import real industrial music 25 years ago, and find it frustrating when a band or group or anyone labels music industrial when it has NO industrial sounds in it. Real industrial music incorporates NOISE that is NON-musical-instrument based, if an instrument or computer makes the noise or sound, that is not industrial music in itself. However if it incorporates sounds & noise such as those below, it can be called industrial correctly.

Examples of industrial sounds in music:
* Machinery sounds
* Factory noises
* Banging a metal wrench on a machine
* Smashing a piano to bits
* Breaking glass or anything breakable
* dry cleaner press noises
* printing presses running
* using instruments in unique ways

An example of music being made from noise is best seen in these videos on youtube:
* Dry cleaning press music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCLqfiSKGKE
* Sound builders, read the description for more examples http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7con7qqh4qA&feature=related
* Natural gas facility http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53ZRXWwsHbg
* Robotic motor noises http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epJVqkFsz1w

Examples of actual industrial music include:

* Kraftwerk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jITrpmQIX-I

* Using cymbals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTTPaz8O06k

* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlOAf351vW0
* (WARNING: Video is DEAD people! Sound is industrial ambient) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZB5951GgF8&feature=related

Examples of Mistakenly labeled industrial:
* Electronic only http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOJiilBSj8c&feature=watch_response
* EXPLICIT! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9Ik9FptGRU&feature=related

Here's a description & history paragraph pasted from the wikipedia:
"ndustrial music drew from a broad range of predecessors. Alexei Monroe argues that Kraftwerk were particularly significant in the development of industrial music, as the "first successful artists to incorporate representations of industrial sounds into nonacademic electronic music"[4] Industrial music was created originally by using mechanical and electric machinery, and later advanced synthesizers, samplers and electronic percussion as the technology developed. Monroe also argues for Suicide as an influential contemporary of the industrial musicians.[4] Groups cited as inspirational by the founders of industrial music include The Velvet Underground, Joy Division, and Martin Denny.[5] Genesis P-Orridge of Throbbing Gristle had a cassette library including recordings by the Master Musicians of Jajouka, Kraftwerk, Charles Manson, and William S. Burroughs.[6] P-Orridge also credited 1960s rock such as The Doors, Pearls Before Swine, The Fugs, Captain Beefheart, and Frank Zappa in a 1979 interview.[7]"

Here's a link to a free sample download of early industrial music on the wiki:

Review: Greg Behrendt: Is That Guy from That Thing

Greg Behrendt: Is That Guy from That Thing
You rated this movie: 5

He & this are hilarious! Non-stop belly deep laughing, it's a work out! I had no idea he was this funny or I would have watched this sooner. Is he the same guy who did the 4-slice toaster bit long time ago? This show is NOT for kids nor easily offended by swear words, since the F-bomb is used quite a bit, as is potty humor, all of which I loved, but I want people who don't like that to know so they don't ruin the ratings by watching & hating it. I loved his Glenn act because he took something religious & made it ridiculously funny. "FU Glen I like mayonnaise!" Haha! The last bit about the barrette was silly funny too. He has his timing, his stories & jokes, his expressions & mannerisms down to a science. The audience was hysterical to the point he had to stop & give them time to catch their breath! One of the, if not THE, best comedy shows I've seen (& especially for non BET type comedy)--all original stuff, nothing stale or repeated. I recommend buying this one!
